A perspective

The therapeutic journey is an ongoing encounter with oneself. At times it is a gentle walk, at others, an arduous passage through shadows and swamps – yet not one that must be undertaken alone.

Along the way, treasures and monsters emerge, bringing tears and smiles alike. With each step, the "I" can loosen its illusion of sole authority and come to recognize the multiplicity of life within. In doing so, the many islands and oceans of the psyche may be reached.

To stray from this path, from oneself, engenders suffering. It is to live as someone else, beneath the weight of borrowed and contradictory laws.

Through the work of differentiating and integrating, the breadth of who we are gains structure. With that, the dammed rivers flow once more, and the child we once were, still alive within us, finds space to speak of fears and dreams.
